As your business grows you’ve probably noticed more people are paying attention. They expect updates on your website, blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Whether you are an amazing author and inspirational leader like Danielle LaPorte, passive income blogger like Pat Flynn, or a run a software company like my friend Brian we want to know what is happening with your new idea.

You have to share your business with us and that goes double for your launch. From the early stages all the way through to the end. If you won’t share what’s going on we won’t care about what you are creating. We need that emotional hook that gets us so excited to buy that we can barely contain ourselves.

You can do this through email, blog, social media, live events, etc. I suggest using all of these tools. Your business needs to be where your people are hanging out. If you can’t be where they are then you are missing out on a chance to connect with them.

You have to think about why your launch matters to them. If you don’t know why your ideas matter you can’t expect other people to want to receive updates from you.

Why does your launch matter? (Really dig in with this questions and bring clarity to your answer.)

Once you understand why people connect with your message that’s when you can get people excited about what you are creating.

That’s your story. Every marketer will tell you that your company’s story is vital to its success. Think of any company you love. You probably know the history of the company.

I read Steve Jobs biography because I’m fascinated by Apple and the culture it’s created. I can’t help but want to learn more about them.

I’ve learned more about creating amazing launches from following Apple then any book I’ve ever read. They intrigue me and probably always will.

That’s the type of curiosity that you need to spark in your own customers. If you make shoes, why do your shoes matter? Tell us about why your shoes are special. Tell us what mistakes you’ve made and what you learned from them. This is what I like to call a teachable. When you share your insights with your audience they will look at you as an authority in your field.

What is one mistake that you’ve made in your business?

This is the stuff we want from you. Share with us how you came up with your idea. Share with us what you are working on to make our lives better. Share with us where you see your company going in the next year.

The more you share the more curious we become. The trick is to tell a story with each launch. Don’t just share facts and figures. Tell us about the people at the company. Tell us about how your product and how it is changing lives. Highlight other people and potential customers and will see ourselves in these stories, wanting the same results. That’s how you increase sales. You allow people into you customer tribe by being open and honest and people will reward you.

Your Turn

Why do your ideas, products, services matter? (I would love to hear your story.)
